The next Grand Theft Auto game is currently in development, according to Rockstar Games.
"We’re very excited to share that we are indeed working on something very special and hope you’ll be as excited as we are when the time comes," said Rockstar's official blog post, which confirms the news which was announced at The Game Awards.
The closest Grand Theft Auto game was Grand Theft Auto V, which released in 2013 and launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
Since then, Sony has added PS4 exclusivity to the game's remasters, while it also appears that Rockstar Games is hard at work on another sequel.
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), with a working title of GTA: Heritage, is an upcoming action/adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the eleventh installment in the Grand Theft Auto series and was originally to be released worldwide on XBOX One, PS4 and PC in 2020.
We have been waiting for a long time but the wait has almost come to an end. The most recent updates on the Grand Theft Auto 6 release was made earlier today by Rockstar Games.
Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has confirmed that it will be moving "more development resources" to GTA 6 with Red Dead Online content set to end as a result, saying . . .
"Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series – understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be – and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online."
Fingers are crossed for GTA6 after the flop that was the Remastered Trilogy that was released back in November 2021.
